Easy Banana & Oatmeal Dog Treats
I love these easy banana and oatmeal dog treats. And guess, what? So does Winston! Super easy and cheap to make, don’t be surprised if these end up becoming your dog’s favorite treat.
There are lots of dog treat brands available online and in-store that aren’t as healthy as I’d like them to be. When I look through the ingredients list, there are names I don’t recognize. There are usually lots of additives.
Of course, shop-bought dog treats have their purpose and I do have my favorites – or should I say, Winston has his favorites – but as much as I can, I like to make my own. That way I know exactly what’s going into them. Not only does that mean healthier dog treats, it means cheaper ones, too!
Whenever I decide to whip up a batch of these delicious banana and oatmeal dog treats, I almost always have everything I need already in the kitchen cupboards. With just a few ingredients, these little biscuits come together really nicely. And if your doggo is anything like mine, they’ll be thrilled to know that banana and peanut butter feature. Two dog favorites.
Just 5 ingredients

The recipe calls for just 5 ingredients (if you want to skip the egg white for brushing, otherwise it’s 6). Gradually add them all into a mixing bowl, bake for 25-30 minutes until they’re golden brown and that’s it!
Didn’t I say they were easy to make?

I’ve gone for simple circular shapes here but if you fancy being a little more creative, try these corgi-shaped cookie cutters. Aren’t they the cutest?
Banana & Oatmeal Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- ½ cup mashed banana
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- ½ cup oatmeal
- 1 egg white lightly beaten, for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Stir together the egg, peanut butter + banana in a medium bowl; blend thoroughly. Stir in the flour and oatmeal; mix well. Turn dough out onto a floured board and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a cookie cutter, place on prepared baking sheet, and brush tops with egg white. You may need to add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky to roll out/cut.
- Bake biscuits in preheated oven until dried and golden brown, about 30 minutes, depending on size. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
