Simple Crock Pot Dog Food For Sensitive Stomachs

If you’re looking for a delicious and simple crock pot dog food recipe, you’ve come to the right place. Not only is this ridiculously easy to make (who doesn’t love a one-pot recipe?!) but it’s also gentle on sensitive stomachs, too.

As you’ll see below, there are plenty of tweaks you can make to the recipe to suit your dog’s health and preferences, and what ingredients you’ve got readily available. For example, you can use turkey or beef instead of chicken. You can switch rolled oats for rice or quinoa. Notes

Optional add-ins for variety

Canned proteins. 4-5 oz can each, drained:
  • salmon (in water, no salt added, remove bones) – great source of omega-3s
  • can of sardines (in water, no salt added) – great source of calcium, protein, and healthy fats (pictured)
  • can of mackerel (in water, no salt added) – great source of omega-3s
Egg shells:
  • Grind 1-2 eggshells in a coffee grinder or food processor – great source of calcium. Use a small grinder to get a fine grind. If eggshells stick to sides too much, add 1-2 tablespoons of water. Then drain over a paper towel.
Applesauce:
  • Add 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce – rich in antioxidants & fiber

Notes

  • Avoid gas forming veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, corn, and tomatoes.
  • For dogs with sensitive stomachs, it’s best to mix a new food like this recipe with their old food for a few meals in the beginning. This will help avoid a quick increase in fiber that can cause bloating.
  • If your dog tends to eat too fast, add more water when serving to slow them down.

Storage

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 6 months. Portion the food into 1 cup servings in small freezer bags. Place in the refrigerator the night before serving to thaw. (For small dogs, serve half a bag per day).
