Reputable Pembroke Corgi Breeders (By Country)
Pembroke Corgis are the more popular of the two Corgi types and there are plenty of breeders to choose from.
You’ll notice that there’s a mixture of links to specific Corgi breeders and Kennel/Corgi Clubs that list their registered breeders all in one place.

Japan | It’s hard to find Corgi breeders in Japan and pet abandonment (according to many who live there) is rife. If you want a Corgi, please consider rehoming a dog in need. There are many on this reputable site Ark Bark. There are usually always Shiba Inus and sometimes Corgis too. |

11 Signs Of A Reputable Corgi Breeder
Unfortunately, not all Corgi breeders prioritize the well-being of their dogs. There are many backyard breeders to be aware of… but how do you spot them? Here are 11 signs to watch out for.
A responsible Corgi breeder will:
- Never rush you into deciding on a puppy. They will take the time to get to know you, and answer all of your questions
- Want to learn all about you and the kind of lifestyle you lead. If they prioritize the well-being of their puppies, they will want to know that they’re going to a safe home with a suitable owner
- Only breed from healthy Corgis with no health or behavioral issues. If you ask for evidence of health tests, they will be able to provide this.
- Want you to visit the puppies with their mother. They will never sell a puppy less than 8 weeks old.
- Not breed multiple different kinds of dogs. This is the sign of a puppy mill.
- Ensure the mother and puppies are up-to-date with vet checks and vaccinations. This includes flea and worming treatments.
- Make sure each puppy is microchipped (if based in the UK).
- Provide you with a puppy pack that includes vaccination information, (usually) a purchase contract, and food.
- Offer to stay in touch should issues arise with your Corgi puppy in the future.
- Be able to share testimonials from previous owners.
- Give their Corgi puppies the best start in life. They will be socialized from an early age in a safe, clean, and warm environment with access to the outdoors.
Reputable Corgi Rescue Centers (By Country)
If you’d like to rehome an adult Corgi like I did, here’s a list of reputable Corgi rescue centers worldwide.
I can highly recommend the Welsh Corgi Rescue Service, which we used to rehome Winston.

If you can’t see a Corgi rescue center in your country, try speaking to a local Corgi breeder. They may know of an older Corgi that’s no longer showing or breeding, but that isn’t being advertised online. Even if they don’t (at that time), it won’t hurt to register your interest with them.

Both my daughter and I have (my first one recently passed) corgis from RJ’s Corgis based in Ely, Minnesota. I will get my next puppy from here, too. One of the owners is a retired veterinarian and his wife, Renee. She’s super responsive and answers any and all questions. I can’t recommend RJ’s Corgis enough.
Love your emails!
Hi Bridget, thank you so much for your lovely comment! Were you able to visit the puppies before your purchased, and were health tests offered/shared? Thank you!
