A Royal Corgi Christmas was filmed on location in Ireland.
The castle that you can see in the trailer for the film is Ardgillan Castle in Fingal, Ireland.
According to the Castle’s website, Ardgillan is actually a large country home with “castellated embellishments.”
It was originally named Prospect House, with the central section built in 1738 and the east and west wings added in the late 1800s.
One thing is certain: Ardgillan Castle has the all the regal trappings for a royal love story!

What happens in A Royal Corgi Christmas?
Prince Edmond returns home reluctantly just before Christmas to be named successor to the throne.
To win over his mother’s love, he buys her a present: a naughty corgi called Mistletoe who’s in need of serious training.
After several doggy disasters, Edmond turns to Cecily, a canine behavior expert from America for help.
To his surprise, Cecily demands that Edmond take an active part in the daily dog training sessions.
Soon enough, sparks fly between the pair as they work together to get Mistletoe ready to present at the annual Christmas Ball.
And as Mistletoe captures their hearts, their affection for one another also grows.
In light of this, by the end of the movie Edmond and Cecily have to figure out what they really want.
Who is the corgi in A Royal Corgi Christmas?
The corgi in a Royal Corgi Christmas is called Bonbon and based in London.
According to an interview with Bonbon’s trainer, Sandra Strong, this corgi was a very fast learner.
[And] I thought, “That is a star.” So they did all my courses, all the film courses. He was almost ready to go. And the more you teach dogs, the more they understand and the quicker they learn. And he only lives 10 minutes from me. So we had one extremely well-trained corgi.

While corgis are highly intelligent dogs (not dumb like many people think), their stubborness sometimes makes them hard to train.
This was not the case for Bonbon.
He picked up commands very fast and even managed to pull off a very difficult trick in one take!
That trick was pulling the tablecloth off the dining table, destroying a beautifully laid buffet in the process.
But that’s not all.
Bonbon is also very good at the “Bang bang” trick, where you point at the corgi, say the words, and he falls down “dead”.
The only thing was he loved doing it so much, he’d forgotten that he had to stay completely still. He’d keep still, but then his tail would twitch. [Laughs] “Look at me! I’m so clever! I can do it!”

It’s no wonder the actors from A Very Corgi Christmas fell in love with Bonbon.
According to Sandra, British actor Jordan Renzo was best buddies with Bonbon by the end of filming.
