Do Corgis Like To Sleep With You? Here’s The Truth
If you’ve been wondering whether corgis like to sleep with you, you’ve come to the right place.
The short answer is that yes, corgis like to sleep with their owners. The better question is do you want to sleep with your corgi?
Let’s take a closer look at whether that’s a good idea.
Do corgis like to sleep with you? It depends…
Here’s the thing about sleeping with corgis…
Almost all of them would absolutely love to cuddle up beside their human for the night.
That’s because corgis are very affectionate, quite clingy dogs. Now don’t be fooled, they also love to exercise.
But — and this is a big but — once they’ve had their daily exercise, the place they’d like to be most in the world is with you.
Preferably in bed, having their ears scratched and their tummy tickled.
Because if corgis are good at anything, it’s chilling out.
Don’t ask whether corgis like to sleep with you…
Instead ask yourself — do you want to sleep with your corgi?
When we first bought Winston home (read more about his adoption story here), he slept in his crate.
Then, as he gradually settled into his new life and surroundings, he started to spend a few nights curled up at the end of our bed.
We didn’t mind. In fact, we loved it. It felt like such a novelty!
But as he grew bigger (who knew that a corgi isn’t fully grown at 12 months?!) it became less practical.
Winston’s lovely big butt took up a lot of space in our small double bed and worse than that, his hair shed onto our duvet and triggering my boyfriend’s (slight) allergies.
The lack of space coupled with the fact that it was getting a little bit dirty all of us sleeping together meant that we ended up compromising.
Winston now sleeps in our bedroom but not with us in bed. He can see me from where he sleeps and I can see him. He’s just close enough without being on top of us.
It’s perfect!
Will you let your corgi sleep with you?
Recently my boyfriend admitted that when I’m away from home visiting friends or family, he brings Winston into bed with him.
He puts up with the sneezes for a night or two in favour of cuddling up to a gorgeous corgi!
So if you live alone or have a very big bed, maybe sleeping with your corgi isn’t such a bad idea?
Just make sure that they have a ramp they can use to get up and down.
Constantly jumping up and down isn’t good for corgis and can lead to health issues in the future.
