Really Easy & Delicious Pupcakes Your Corgi Will Love

As a corgi owner and avid baker, I understand the joy of treating our furry friends to delicious and nutritious food.

I also understand that you may not want to buy processed or expensive treats from the grocery store.

Well, I have good news!

These really easy and delicious homemade pupcakes require just 5 ingredients: peanut butter, greek yogurt, wholemeal flour, carrot, and an egg. And I can guarantee that your corgi will love them!

The icing is also really easy to make and, if you’re feeling extra creative, you can whip up some crunchy dog bone biscuits to add on top.

Whether you’re a seasoned baker or a newbie, let’s dive into the world of corgi pupcakes together and give your furry friend the tasty treats they deserve.

Ingredients (makes about 7 pupcakes)

For the pupcakes

  • 30g peanut butter
  • 35g Greek yogurt
  • 30g grated carrot
  • 1 egg
  • 50g wholemeal flour

You can add a good squeeze of honey too if you like!

For the frosting

  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt

Note: If you find that your frosting is too runny, add another tablespoon of peanut butter to thicken it up.

For the dog bone biscuits

  • 75g whole wheat flour
  • 1 small egg
  • 65g peanut butter
  • 50g water
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

Note: If your dough is too runny to roll out, add some more flour until it becomes less sticky and easier to handle!

Equipment

  • Kitchen scale
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or wooden spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutter
  • Cupcake cases
  • Cupcake baking tin
  • Icing bag and nozzle (optional)

Instructions

Note: I like to make the pupcakes and dog bone biscuits at the same time so that they can bake in the oven alongside each other.

To make the pupcakes:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a cupcake tin with 7 paper cases.
  • Combine the peanut butter and yogurt in a large bowl and mix until combined.
  • Add the egg and mix until smooth.
  • Now add the shredded carrot and mix until well combined.
  • Finally add the whole wheat flour into the bowl and stir until everything is just mixed. Don’t overmix that batter.
  • Divide the mixture into 7 cupcake cases and bake in the center of the oven for 10 minutes. Keep an eye on your cupcakes as they bake very quickly. They’re ready when a knife comes out clean and the top is a light golden brown.
  • If you’re making the biscuits at the same time, put the pupcakes to one side (before putting in the oven) while you make the dough.

To make the biscuits:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper (or use a non-stick tray like I did).
  • Combine the flour and the egg in a large bowl.
  • Add the peanut butter, water, and honey, and stir until you have a stiff dough. Don’t be alarmed if the dough feels very firm – this is normal! You may have to use your hands.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough about ½-inch thick and use a dog bone (or dog paw) cookie cutter to cut out cute shapes.
  • If you’re using a very small dog bone cookie cutter like I did, bake for 5-10 minutes maximum and keep a close eye on them. The smaller your shapes, the quicker they will bake (and burn!).
  • Once they’re a light golden brown color, remove from the oven and let them cool.

To make the frosting:

  • To make the frosting, combine the peanut butter and Greek yogurt in a bowl.
  • Stir until you get a smooth, thick frosting.
  • You can add the icing to the pupcakes as it is or use an icing bag and nozzle to create lovely neat frosting.
  • Top the frosting with dog bone biscuits!

Things to watch out for

  • Some dogs are allergic to flour and wheat. You can use rice flour or coconut flour as a replacement but may have to increase/decrease the amount of water you add as these flours do change the consistency.
  • Do not use any peanut butter that contains xylitol (a replacement for sugar) as it is toxic to dogs. Check the ingredients of your peanut butter before use.

Where can I get a cute dog-themed cookie cutter?

How long do these homemade pupcakes last?

These homemade peanut butter and carrot pupcakes will last in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 week. You can freeze them for up to 3 months.

How many of these pupcakes can I give my corgi?

I recommend you stick to one pupcake per day to ensure your corgi doesn’t put on additional weight.
